A man whose mobile number was inadvertently shared on Twitter by football pundit Jamie Carragher has said he 'panicked' when he was inundated with thousands of messages. Jamie Carragher hit out at Lord Sugar on Monday morning, calling him a 'f.ing idiot' on Twitter after using his tribute to Gerard Houllier to have a dig at Piers Morgan. Houllier, the former.

Jamie Carragher thumbed a celebratory tweet after Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Tottenham, jokingly hoping that Jurgen Klopp would invite him to return to the side in light of the club’s injury updates.

Joel Matip added to the Reds’ injury woes, with the former Dortmund coach suggesting that the Cameroonian had damaged his ankle ligament during the tie.

Big win for @LFC & a lovely birthday present for yours truly 😎 only way it can be topped is if Jurgen texts me tonight to get to Kirkby tomorrow 👀🤞🏻#TOTLIV

With the extent of Fabinho’s injury still yet to be revealed, Klopp faces an uphill battle with the side set to face the likes of Manchester City and Leicester in the upcoming weeks.

Ideally, the Liverpool hierarchy will finally sanction some involvement in the transfer window to get us through the remainder of the season with a stop-gap transfer.

We can only hope that our No.3 won’t be out of action for too long, but defensive reinforcements will likely be more than necessary should Matip’s setback prove to be long-term.

The club have four days to act before the transfer window shuts on Monday; late as it is, there are options that we can pursue before the deadline.

We at the EOTK are not expecting a world-class talent to be brought in, but it should be possible to arrange some kind of a loan deal or free transfer in order to ensure that we’re not completely devoid of options going into the second-half of the season.

Worst comes to worst, Klopp can always take Carragher up on his offer!

Jamie Carragher dug up an old tweet from Gary Neville to savagely mock his punditry colleague following the Salford City co-owner’s decision to sack Richie Wellens.

Wellens has been shown the door by the League Two side after just under five months in charge, and just over a week after guiding the club to their first-ever piece of Football League silverware.

Salford only appointed the 40-year-old in early November but he has been sacked after a run of just two wins in nine league games, despite recently winning the EFL Trophy with a win over Portsmouth at Wembley.

But Wellens had showdown talks with Manchester United legend Neville and they resulted in the former being axed on Monday, having won just 11 of his 30 games in charge.

It’s the club’s second managerial firing of the season, with Graham Alexander sacked in October and replaced by Wellens.

And Carragher couldn’t resist taking to Twitter to mock the Manchester United legend for not practising what he preached in regards to a tweet from three years ago, where he said managers weren’t being given enough time to be successful.

Reacting to the news of Marco Silva’s sacking from Everton back in January 2018, Neville tweeted: “The scary thing is that a large % of people now actually support these sackings as they’ve become accustomed to it.

“How can you build a football team without getting 2-3 years? A rule change is required to moderate sackings of managers mid season in their first year at a club.”

Carragher posted the message from Neville on his Twitter alongside a series of laughing emojis.

He then posted another tweet, declaring ‘Jesus Gil has got nothing on Neville’.

Gil, the former Atletico Madrid president, sacked an incredible 39 managers during his time at the Spanish club.

Neville has yet to comment personally on Wellens’ departure.

But Salford, who are six points outside of the League Two play-offs, said in a club statement: “Salford City Football Club has parted company with Richie Wellens by mutual consent.

“We would like to thank Richie for his time and efforts at the club and wish him well for the future.”

“An announcement about a new manager will be made in due course. There will be no further comment.”

Owned by members of Manchester United’s ‘Class of 92’, including Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and David Beckham, the club have seen Salford’s promotion hopes fade in recent weeks.

City remain ninth in the table, however, only six points off Newport, who occupy the final play-off place.

Nine days ago Wellens led Salford to a penalty shoot-out win over Portsmouth in the delayed final of last season’s Papa John’s Trophy. Their reign lasted one day before Sunderland clinched this season’s trophy.

That Wembley triumph was followed by a home draw with Colchester and then a 2-0 loss at Cheltenham on Saturday, however, paving the way for a change in the dugout.
